Heidestein is a small app for people who like to walk.
It records where you go and turns each walk into a simple, printable artefact.
Everything happens on your device.
Heidestein doesn't collect analytics, doesn't run ads, and doesn't use remote servers.
Your routes, notes, and images remain under your control at all times.
Privacy & Data
- What is collected: precise location points while tracking is active.
- Why: to draw your route and let you view/export it (GPX, SVG, PNG).
- When: only after you press Start. If you keep walking with the screen off, the app continues recording in the background and shows a persistent notification until you pause or stop.
- Where it lives: on your device in local storage/database. Exports are files saved on your device that you control.
- Sharing: the app does not send data to servers, third parties, or analytics services.
- Retention & control: your routes remain until you delete them in the app; deleting a route removes its points from local storage.
- What: text notes and optionally selected images
- Why: to associate observations with locations on your route
- Where: stored locally on your device
Permissions & Background Use
Location access is requested only when you start tracking a walk.
With your permission, the app may continue recording location while running in the background so your route is not
interrupted when the screen is off or you switch apps.
A visible system notification may be shown while background tracking is active.
You can pause or stop tracking at any time.
TLDR; I don't collect or share any of your data.
